چکیده

A 31-year-old woman was referred for fetal cardiac assessment at 30 weeks of gestation because of fetal arrhythmia and inadequate visualization of the 4-chamber heart at another hospital. Routine scanning demonstrated normal growth, no anomalies, and a normal 4-chamber view; however, the great vessels were inadequately evaluated. Detailed fetal echocardiography was then performed with sequential segmental analysis. Four-chamber view showed a heart of normal size and position, with balanced chambers, intact crux, intact ventricular septum, and normal atrioventricular connections (Figure 1). The ventriculoarterial connections were identified by clear observation of the 2 outflow tract views and ascertainment of the 2 great vessels they connect, as the aorta gives off 3 brachiocephalic vessels and the pulmonary artery trunk is short, with a bifurcation at the

Effect of prenatal diagnosis on outcomes in D-transposition of the great arteries.

BACKGROUND By decreasing preoperative morbidity, prenatal diagnosis could improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants with critical congenital heart disease. We explored the impact of prenatal diagnosis on perinatal and perioperative variables and on outcomes at 1 year of age. METHODS We analyzed a database of children enrolled in prospective studies on surgical support techniques from 198...

Is the "I-Sign" in the 3-Vessel and Trachea View a Valid Tool for Prenatal Diagnosis of D-Transposition of the Great Arteries?

Prenatal diagnosis of D-transposition of the great arteries remains less frequent compared to other major congenital heart defects. In this study, we examined how often the 3-vessel and trachea view was abnormal in a large series of prenatally diagnosed cases of D-transposition of the great arteries. We found that an abnormal 3-vessel and trachea view in the shape of an "I" ("I-sign"), which re...

A 33-day-old Infant with the Transposition of the Great Arteries; A Rare Case Report

Dextro-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) is the one most common cyanotic congenital heart disease in neonates. The discordant ventriculoarterial arrangement results in parallel circulation, it so is vital to understand the management. We report a rare interesting but critical case of 33-day-old boy who developed cyanosis and had transposition of great arteries combined with interrupte...

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries: clues for prenatal diagnosis.

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) is an uncommon cardiac defect characterized by the atria connecting with the anatomically discordant ventricles and the ventricles connecting with discordant and transposed great arteries. Parallel vessels are evident in corrected TGA, but as this sign is also present in complete TGA, a heart anomaly requiring major cardiac surg...

Hospitalists Should Have Increased Suspicion for Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia in Patients With Congenital Heart Disease

Case: An infant boy with a prenatal diagnosis of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CC TGA, also known as L-transposition) was born at an outside hospital. Delivery was at term and via cesarean delivery for nonreassuring fetal heart rate. He was the fi rst infant of a 22-year-old mother with no family history of heart disease, and the delivery was otherwise uncomplicate...

Accuracy of prenatal echocardiographic diagnosis and prognosis of fetuses with conotruncal anomalies.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of the study was to determine the accuracy of the prenatal echocardiographic diagnosis and prognosis of fetuses with conotruncal anomalies. BACKGROUND The accuracy of prenatal echocardiographic diagnoses of cardiac lesions has been reported, but no previous reports specifically address fetal conotruncal anomalies. METHODS Medical records of 61 fetuses, in which a feta...
